Mattis Mint Chip

When you think of the word “Secretary” you typically think of a female sitting at a desk typing, answering phones and doing the important day to day activities that those appointed above her feel are necessary to complete but might not have the time to complete themselves. What you typically do not think of is  a  man who has dedicated more years of service to the United States Marine Corps than Rocket Man has been alive.  A man who certainly does not only sit at his desk performing important tasks but is also heavily involved with his troops in the field. General James Mattis has proven himself to earn the name Mad Dog due to his necessary strategic commands performed during his 44 year military career. His leadership skills have proven to be effective and he has come to be admired for this. He has left us with some brutally honest quotes that make you proud to be an American and shaking to be on the opposite side of the U.S. We feel this man deserves more gratitude than we can express for his service  but for now, he will have to settle for a cookie dedicated to him. Let’s recap some of his more famous quotes because they are a great reminder of his character:

When speaking to Iraqi military leaders in a meeting, “I come in peace. I didn’t bring artillery...We’ve backed off in good faith to try and give you a chance to straighten this problem out. But I am going to beg with you for a minute. I’m going to plead with you, do not cross us. Because if you do, the survivors will write about what we do here for 10,000 years.”

"Be polite, be professional, but have a plan to kill everybody you meet.”

"Don’t create more enemies than you take out by some immoral act.”

”Powerpoint makes us stupid” Unfortunately, the military hasn’t caught onto this one yet.

When asked in an interview on Face the Nation “What keeps you awake at night?” Mattis replied, “Nothing. I keep other people awake at night.”

”You cannot allow any of your people to avoid the brutal facts. If they start living in a dream world, it’s going to be bad.”

When asked why he doesn’t give out Challenge Coins to troops, he stated, “I’m saving my money for bombs”
